DUNKIN’ DONUTS - RICETTA







Homer Simpson’s donuts are the best american desserts and if you are in the USA you have to go there and eat them with a cup of coffee. They are usually deep-fried from a flour dough and shaped in rings and have topping or fillings. You can make them at home or buy them at bakeries, supermarkets and so on. If you want to taste the real donuts and you are in the States you can go to Dunkin’ Donuts . They were the only restaurants that stayed open during a city-wide “lockdown” after the



Boston Marathon bombings because the police officers couldn’t stay without these donuts! William Rosenburg founded Dunkin’ Donuts in Quincey, Massachusetts in 1950. It serves 5 milion customers a day. These restaurants sell 70 varieties of donuts, a lot of types of coffee beverages and other good things. In 2008 Dunkin’ Donuts opened its first “green” shop where the organic waste that the factory produce is turned into fertilisers for gardens in that area. We can find these donuts in many movies or TV shows where the police officers eat them during a break or in their police department. Another cartoon that it’s really famous for this dessert is “The Simpson” where Homer has an obsession for them. In Italy a donuts shop tried to open in Rome during the summer of 1999. It opened because they wanted to give to the tourists that arrived at Roma Termini a quick snack but the shop closed two years later.

INGREDIENTS:

FOR THE DOUGH

· Flour 00 250g

· Manitoba flour 250g

· Milk 250g

· Softened butter 75g

· Sugar 70g

· 2 eggs

· Fresh brewer’s yeast 12g

· 1 little spoon of vanilla extract

· Salt 6g

TO DECORATE

· Powdered sugar 150g

· Butter 20g

· Chocolate 50g

· Water

· Food coloring


PREPARATION

To do the donuts first of all you have to warm up the milk that you will use for the dough. Meanwhile you put inside a planetary’s bowl the flour, the Manitoba flour, the sugar and the fresh brewer’s yeast. Turn on the planetary and pour flush the milk. Add the eggs and the vanilla extract. In the end you can add also the salt and continue to work until the dough will come off the planetary walls. Now you can add the butter to obtain a smooth and compact dough.

Remove the dough from the planetary and place it on a pastry board. Sprinkle with a little flour and give the dough a spherical shape. Transfer it to a large bowl and cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for 2 hours at room temperature. After the rising time, transfer the dough again onto the lightly floured pastry board and roll it out with a rolling pin to a thickness of 1 cm then cut out circles with a diameter of 8 cm. Now you can get the donuts’ holes with a diameter of 3 cm, put the donuts on a tray, cover them with a tea towel and let rise for 40 minutes. When they are ready you have to fry a few at time and then dry them with absorbent paper. To do the icing you have to put inside a bowl the powdered sugar, the butter and the water. Divide the icing in three bowls. In the first you have to keep the icing natural, in the second you can add the melted chocolate and in the third the food coloring. Finally you are ready to decorate your donuts by dipping only a side inside the icing.
